Roofing & More routinely installs commercial and industrial roofing systems throughout Northern Virginia. Increasingly, we are asked about TPO (thermoplastic polyolefin) roof membrane. TPO is an advanced single-ply roofing material manufactured from a rubber compound reinforced with polyester fabric. This membrane has been on the market for over 20 years, and has quickly gained in popularity for both new and replacement roofs on commercial and residential structures. Here are some of the most important benefits of TPO.
- Efficiency. TPO has excellent reflective abilities, which results in a great reduction in energy costs and reduced environmental impact. It generally comes in white, although manufacturers continue to expand their color palettes with colors including tan and grey.
- Performance. When properly installed, TPO systems will last from 10 to 20 years, depending on the method of installation. TPO is highly resistant to impact, punctures and tears.
- Easy installation. Most TPO membranes come in lighter, wider sheets than other roofing materials, so they’re easier to install and have fewer seams.
- Price. Ease of installation not only makes the installation process faster, it’s often less expensive.
