Have Your Roof Inspected by Professionals. It may sound like a no-brainer, but you might be surprised at how many calls we get from homeowners who want to schedule repair work without having their roof inspected beforehand. Assuming that you haven’t had your roof inspected in the past year or so, do this first. Not only will it reveal the extent of roofing damage, it will also give you an idea of how much it will cost.
Research Financing Options. Repairs cost significantly less than a full roof replacement. If it's replacement that you need but you require financing to cover the cost, then you should get started as soon as you can. Ask yourself: does my insurance and/or warranty cover it? Are there financing options from my bank? Does the roofer offer similar options?
Choose a Schedule. Spring, summer and fall are ideal seasons for any kind of roofing work. The weather is good and there’s also a reduced risk of delays in delivering the roofing materials. Note that contractors like us are typically heavily booked during summer, so you should make an appointment as early as possible.
Prepare Your Home. Once you have settled on a date and signed the paperwork, you will have several days (or even weeks) leading to the start date. Use this time to make preparations. You may want to protect furniture and electronics from dust by covering with drop cloths. Remove hanging pictures and other valuables that could fall from the walls during the roofing process. Make arrangements for temporary accommodations if the repair work requires that you leave the premises.
