As we enter the final months of 2018, the Roofing & More team continues to review the past year to develop ways to improve our company. Recently, we completed a SWOT analysis, in which an outside professional met with our administrative, sales and production teams to identify our strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.

I wanted employees to give their honest opinions about where we thrive and fall as a home improvement company, without the pressure that can come with speaking to the “guy in charge,” which is why I didn’t attend. The results of the SWOT analysis produced extremely helpful data, and we later sat down as a team to pick four categories to focus on and improve in.

Technology

Technology moves fast, and it’s important to not get trapped in old-school methods. One of the goals we’ve created moving forward is to keep tabs on technology we can take advantage of, and platforms we can use to improve efficiency and make tasks easier.

Work-Life Balance

I have been blessed with a position of leadership, which has given me the responsibility of my employees’ well-being. As Abraham Lincoln said, “It’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.” It is just as important to me as it is to my team that every single Roofing & More employee is getting the most life out of their years, and together we are developing ways to improve the work-life balance.

Best in Class

As the president of a small business, it has been important for me to learn to let go and use the power of my team to improve our company. After reviewing our SWOT analysis, we had teams of individuals from every department develop a plan for “Best in Class” training. I was incredibly impressed with the ideas they presented, and have learned a great amount from them.

Leadership

We never want to settle once we are good at something – we want to be GREAT. The same is true for Roofing & More, which is why one of our goals is to invest in our
