As the president of Roofing & More, Inc., I’m often given great opportunities to participate with other business leaders, both inside and outside of the industry, to share our stories and help inspire one another to do great things. Several months ago, I was given the opportunity to co-author a book titled Don’t Quit: Stories of Persistence, Courage and Faith, which was recently officially released and is now available to the public! This book includes powerful life stories from a number of inspirational professionals, and I am honored to have my chapter included.

Although helping Roofing & More become a successful business has been a top priority, my biggest goal for the past decade and a half, as both a company leader and personally, has been to make a difference in the lives of others.

Making a Difference

Some of the people who have greatly impacted my own life and inspired me to become a better person are leaders I’ve never met. Years ago, after attending the memorial service of someone who touched the lives of many people, I was awestruck by the kind words the other guests had to say. I then asked myself, “Who do I hope would say the same kind things about me?” Of course, the first people that came to mind were my wife and children, followed by my friends. But who have I impacted past my personal relationships? How can I reach past my own little circle?

A few years later, I was listening to a speaker who shared a piece of advice that resonated with me, solidifying my desire to guide others:

“Anyone can make money, but not everyone will make a difference.” 

I want to make a difference – not for me, but for those whose lives I can touch, even if it’s in a small way. Writing a book offers my co-authors and myself a way to expand our audience and influence, reaching those who we may never get a chance to meet in person. Together with the other authors of Don’t Quit: Stories of Persistence, Courage and Faith, I hope my story will help others, either professionally, personally or both.
