While you may not be excited about the arrival of winter, shorter days and cooler nights mean this season is just around the corner. This is also the ideal time to take advantage of Virginia’s fine fall weather by performing an annual roof inspection that will ensure your roof is ready for colder weather. Even if your roof is not currently leaking, proper roof maintenance can stop potential problems before they start and help you avoid difficult repairs during the winter months. Pay attention to the following areas.
- Shingles and flashing. Look for missing shingles or shingles that demonstrate signs of cracking or excessive wear, and metal flashing that appears to be loose or damaged. Any of these problems must be addressed promptly by a professional roofing contractor to prevent leaks.
